Advanced Academic English for International Students
4 units - offered Fall Quarter
This multi-skills courses focuses on the English required for successful academic work at the graduate level. Students work on the following: writing clearly and accurately; listening to lectures and taking notes accurately; giving effective oral presentations; summarizing and critiquing; expanding their vocabulary and understanding of idioms and expressions; understanding American culture as related to the university environment; and reviewing grammar as needed for effective writing and speaking.
