Speaking Skills for ESL Graduate Students and TAs
3 units - offered Winter and Spring Quarters
This course focuses on helping graduate students, particularly teaching assistants, communicate clearly and effectively in spoken English. Students work on giving effective oral presentations, preparing for oral examinations, and interacting with students and colleagues. Students receive feedback from the instructor on their spoken English and learn strategies for improvement. One-on-one tutoring or small-group practice in pronunciation is provided as part of the course. 3 units; offered Winter and Spring Quarters.
